Auditions for improv actors to join the Illinois Crisis Intervention
Crisis Intervention Team. CIT, a nationwide program developed to
train police and correctional officers to interact with mentally ill
persons, has upcoming trainings throughout the State of Illinois.
These trainings are sponsored by the Illinois Law Enforcement
Training & Standards Board, and offer performers an excellent medium
to explore the art of improvisational acting working with top-notch
performers from around Illinois as role players in unscripted,
lightly-rehearsed scenes. Don't worry, we give you the background in
our training!
NO EXPERIENCE IS NESSECARY. Performers must be 18 or older, all
types, and experience levels encouraged to apply.
Performers with knowledge of the following are especially encouraged
to audition:
Improv and the "Yes, and…" method
Theatre, Film, Television
Public Speaking
Experience with Mentally Ill Persons
Experience with Manic, Depressive Persons (paranoid,
schizophrenic. ..)
Law Enforcement Training
Actors MUST be able to:
• MAKE TRAINING DATES (Paid, See Below)
• Be Energetic!
• Have the ability to speak and recall thoughts post-incident
and at panel reviews (included in training)
• Interact with Police Officers and other actors
• Maintain character during intense roll plays
• Rapidly change dynamic of role play (emotions, feelings,
direction, meaning)
• Adapt Quickly to Unfamiliar Situations (included in training)

change. Many dates added periodically. Performers need not be
available for all dates. We are still finalizing dates.

November 3-6, 2007
You would be required to attend a retreat/workshop at Starved Rock
State Park. You would receive training in:
Consumer Panel (meeting people with mental illness round
table discussion, understanding, and development into characters.)
Feedback Session Overview/Review
Improvisational Actor's Studio
Silent actor's Studio (conveying emotion without speech)
Overview of mental illness
"CIT," Police response and the roll of the hospital (jail
diversion)
Pay Rate: (For Training & All Future "gigs") $150.00/day
Actors perform on Thursday afternoons (approximately 4.5 hours/9-11
Scenes) then review Friday 9-11 AM.
Per Diem: $28.00/day
Often, performers are invited to graduation banquets – meals included!
Mileage: $0.455/mile
Lodging: Reimbursed
Benefits: Excellent pay, work with professionally trained
actors, AND make a difference in someone's life!
The Audition Process: Will consist of a 5-10 minute period of a mix
of improv games, basic cold readings, and some role playing. Be sure
to bring your energy. No monologues needed. Please bring a headshot
and resume.
HOW TO GET AN AUDITION SLOT:
If you are interested in auditioning for a spot as a role player in
the IL CIT Team, please make sure you are available for the training
dates indicated above, and that you are available for all or some of
the dates for known future classes. If so, you may request an
