The Rules of Poster Wood are a simple set of rules for those who contest each other in battles of honor, valor, and wits.
They consist of three very simple rules:
1) Unless the Battle of Wits concerns World War II or the Holocaust, under no circumstances must Godwin's Law* be invoked. Violation of this rule by either competitor means victory for their opponent.
2) Any insult directed at the opponent in the Battle of Wits must not be direct, and must be "clever". While you can insinuate that the opponent's mother smells of elderberries, you cannot actually say "you are an idiot" without violating the second rule. Violation of this rule by either competitor means victory for their opponent.
3) In the Battle of Wits, competitors must always focus on the subject at hand, without deviation. Competitors must not break off onto tangents or lose sight of the topic in the Battle of Wits. Violation of this rule by either competitor means victory for their opponent.
*Godwin's Law: As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 100%.
