ST. LOUIS, MO- St. Louis' newest powerhouse sketch comedy group, The Fingerbreaker Brothers, are pleased to announce a special double bill with Chicago-based sketch group OneTwoThree on Friday, February 29 at The Focal Point in Maplewood, MO.
There will be two shows on this evening, with the first beginning at 8:00pm, and the second beginning at 10:00pm. Each show runs approximately 90 minutes.
Ticket prices are $10, available at the door.
The Focal Point is located at 2720 Sutton Blvd. in Maplewood, MO 63143.
The Fingerbreaker Brothers- which is the brainchild of local comedian Christian Lawrence and developed by sketch veterans Tyson Blanquart, Jim Caskanett, Tonya Darabcsek, Drew Somervell and Joey Walsh - is a sketch show about a sketch show.
Jim & Chris Fingerbreaker- the prodigal sons of Mort Fingerbreaker, the legendary performer- are the ringleaders of their own variety show, modeled after comedy geniuses The Smothers Brothers, The Larry Sanders Show, Mr. Show and The Muppet Show. The show features a cast of characters so bizarre that even the cast can't believe them. Each show will have a central theme or plot, and will include a collection of sketches that flow like any good half-hour sitcom should.
Chris and Jim are Mort's identical twin sons, carrying on their father's torch. The only problem is, Chris and Jim can't stand each other, and constantly bicker and battle for control of the show, but they make the show work at all costs.
By contrast, OneTwoThree Comedy- a sketch group from Chicago- offers a more straight-ahead approach to sketch comedy. Established in February 2005, OneTwoThree hit the ground running, performing their material within the first two months of their formation. OneTwoThree is comprised of Kelly Bolton, Rob Nastoff and Liz McArthur.
In June 2005, they unleashed their first full-length sketch revue at Frankie J's Methadome Theatre. TimeOut Chicago praised the 6-week run, saying "sketch after sketch finds the funny in all-too-human moments." Since then, they've performed at the Around the Coyote Festival, the DC Comedy Festival, and The Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival.
The trio combines childlike naiveté with adult themes creating a dark and fragile world where nothing is what it seems and everything is on the verge of collapse. The evening will be laugh-out-loud funny, and the two groups invite you to spend some time with them in the hopes that you'll feel better about your crummy life by the end of the show.
