Hi peeps - below is the press release for a play that I wrote that is being produced by Playback Workshop Theatre - many of you took Jackie's Playback Theatre class at Laughs on the Landing. The play uses Playback Theatre as a way to get the audience involved, and so is partially improvised. Hope to see you there!

beautiful resistance uses audience participation, improvisation, live music, as well as photos and videos shot in the West Bank, to give a new and personal perspective on the complicated issue of Israel’s occupation of Palestine. During beautiful resistance, we meet Skipper, a moon-walking Hamas fighter, and Fayrouz, a boy-crazy college girl living in the volatile world of Balata Refugee Camp. Their stories, and others, are told from the perspective of the narrator, a young St. Louisan who had never left the United States, nor considered herself an activist, prior to her trip to Palestine. beautiful resistance contains moderate violence and strong language; viewing is not recommended for children under the age of 12.
Producing company Playback Workshop Theatre (PWT) is a multi-cultural theatre ensemble of professionals dedicated to the art and practice of Playback Theatre, an original form of improvisational theatre in which audience or group members tell stories from their lives and watch them enacted on the spot. beautiful resistance was developed and is performed using the methods and principles of Playback Theatre, and is directed by PWT’s Founder and Artistic Director Jackie Masei.
