Video Production Internship Description
Internships with KDHX Community Media are highly sought after amongst
St. Louis production students. Our interns are allowed hands-on
production experience that is not possible at other production houses
in the St. Louis area. KDHX production interns assist the education,
programming, production and media arts departments of KDHX. This is
a non-paid internship position.
Overview of Department:
KDHX-TV Channel 21 & 22 are (Public and Community Access) in St. Louis City
on Charter Cable. KDHX-TV cablecasts 12 hours of programming each day,
seven days a week. During the 12 hours we are off the air we run our
community calendar promoting non-profit organizations and local events.
All KDHX TV programs are volunteer produced and crewed.
Location: KDHX-TV (625 N. Euclid, Suite 100).
Supervised by: Aurelie Clement-Bayard, Education Director
Tasks Performed:
* Camera operation, non-linear editing (using Final Cut Pro),
production management with live performances, KDHX events, and intern
video projects.
* Digitize video footage for Media Arts Programs (National Film Challenge,
International Documentary Challenge, 48 Hour Film Project)
* Assist instructors with video production classes for adult and youth media.
* Computer/data management/class management.
* Responsible for meeting the station's needs, assisting with the design
of our station's community slide show, marketing, mailings, and with the
maintenance of the studio and edit suites.
Time Commitment:
12-20 hours per week, 200 hours per semester (or as specified by your
school's curriculum) if seeking credit. Interns also have the opportunity
to volunteer if they are not seeking credit.
Interns need to allocate most of their internship time during afternoons,
evenings and some weekends. In addition, they are expected to attend a
weekly intern staff meeting to communicate and stay on schedule with their assigned tasks.
Requirements:
* Must currently be enrolled in a university/community college seeking
a degree in video production. Junior/Senior status preferred.
* Must be knowledgeable and proficient with Final Cut Pro/Express,
Photoshop and After Effects.
